Shape evolution and growth modeling in mechanics
Tipo de evento: Seminário LNCC
The growth modeling is a new domain of research in mechanics. The domain of definition for the elasticity boundary value problem changes in time. The evolution of the domain is described by a coupled systems of nonlinear PDE's derived in the framework of the finite displacements theory. An example of such a model is presented and its well poseddness is shown locally in time, see the reference. The model of volumetric material growth is introduced in the framework of finite elasticity. The new results obtained for the model are presented with complete proofs. The state variables include the deformations, temperature and the transplant matrix function. The wellposedness of the proposed model is shown. The existence of local in time classical solutions for the quasistatic deformations boundary value problem coupled with the energy balance and the growth evolution of the transplant is shown. The obtained mathematical results can be used for a wide class of growth models in mechanics and biology.ReferenceJean-François Ganghoffer, Pavel I. Plotnikov, Jan Sokolowski.
